1The short version
Sol Lumen is a private journal. What you write is for you. We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your journal entries to train anyone else’s models. This page explains, plainly, what we collect and why.
2What we collect
- Your entries and reflections. The words you write, the feelings you name, your beacons, and your intentions — stored so the Service can show them back to you and respond to them.
- Account information. Basic details needed to give you an account, such as your email address.
- Usage information. Limited technical data (like app version or error logs) that helps us keep the Service working.
3How we use it
We use your information only to operate and improve the Service — to generate the reflections and readings you ask for and keep your account secure. Your journal itself is stored only in your own iCloud; Sol Lumen never has a copy. To generate a reflection or a Lux search, the relevant text you submit is sent to our AI and search providers solely to return your result; it is not used to advertise to you or to train unrelated models.
4AI processing
Sol Lumen’s reflections, readings, and Lux recommendations are generated by Anthropic’s Claude models. When you ask for a reflection, the relevant text is sent securely to Anthropic solely to produce your response — passed through, not kept. Reflections are generated automatically and are not reviewed by a human before you see them. Your journal content is never used to train AI models — not ours, and, under our API terms with Anthropic, not theirs. Photographs and drawings are never sent at all: Sol Lumen does not read pictures.
5Analytics and monitoring
We keep this list short and specific. On this website, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-focused, cookie-free count of page visits — and MailerLite to run the waitlist signup form. Inside the app itself, we currently use no analytics or crash-reporting service at all: no tracker, no third-party SDK watching how you use it. If that ever changes — for example, adding a crash-reporting tool so we can fix errors faster — we will name the tool here before it ships. Your journal content is never sent to any analytics service.
6What we don’t do
We will not sell your personal information. We will not publish, share, or display your User Content, except as needed to provide the Service to you or where required by law.
7Your choices
You can access and export your entries at any time. The controls below are built into the app itself; no request or email is needed.
Deleting an entry. You can delete any individual entry. Deleting asks you to confirm, and a deleted entry is not immediately gone: it is held for 7 days, during which you can restore it from the You page. After 7 days it is permanently removed. We state this plainly because “deleted” should not overpromise — for those 7 days the entry still exists, precisely so a slip of the thumb or a change of heart does not cost you your words.
Closing your account. Closing your account and erasing your journal are two separate actions, and they do different things. Deleting your account removes your identity and subscription from the Service; your journal itself is not touched — it remains in your own iCloud. Erasing your journal content is its own explicit action, deliberately harder to trigger, and it is the only one that removes your entries. Neither happens as a side effect of the other.

8Children’s privacy
Sol Lumen is written for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not currently ask your age. Our formal minimum-age policy is still under legal review; until it is settled, this section describes our current practice rather than a final rule, and it will be updated to state the policy plainly once that review is complete.
